Cookies Notice

You can read about the different types of cookies that we use on this page on Point 4 and refer to Point 6 on how you may manage your consent to their use.

1. Legal Compliance

Tourism NI is required to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the General Data Privacy Regulations (UKGDPR) which regulate the use of personal data and how it is gathered electronically, including cookies and other technologies that store personal data. These regulations require us to clearly explain how and why we use cookies and to make it easy to give your consent, when you use the content pool for the first time or change your preferences at any time.

We may store cookies on your device only if they are strictly necessary for our website to function. All other types of cookies require your consent before they can be set.

Tourism NI is the data controller (Information Commissioner’s Office Registration number: Z7333906) for the personal data we process as detailed within this cookie notice.

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer, mobile phone or tablet when you visit a website to recognise your device and remember if you have been here before. They are widely used to make websites function or work more efficiently as well as providing information to the web owner. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

3. How do we use Cookies on our Content Pool website

Unclassified Cookies

Unclassified cookies are cookies that we are in the process of classifying, collaborating with the providers of individual cookies. Unclassified cookies only operate with your consent.

This category is commonly used in cookie notices when the purpose of certain cookies has not yet been fully identified or verified with the third-party provider. Although ICO guidance does not explicitly define “unclassified cookies,” it does require organisations to provide clear and comprehensive information about each cookie’s purpose once known.

5. What Information do we gather about you

When you register for the Content Pool, access is granted through a registration process, where we request your name, email address, organisation, country of residence, and industry sector to help us understand interest from visitor markets and the tourism industry.

We will also provide you with a Consent ID reference which is unique to you.

You can find out more about how we process your personal data in our Tourism NI Privacy Policy. It also explains when we may share data with third parties to fulfil a service. The Policy sets out your rights and the circumstances in which they apply to the personal information we process about you.
